Many people believe they can get fit at home but it is difficult maintaining motivation whereas joining a fitness club could be the best option. Before you choose you first need to decide what your priority is and make sure that it suits your needs and goals. If you choose your club well you will probably be a member for a long time; the reverse is also true. Without doubt the number one point is the location because if it isn’t near your place of work or home you will not keep up your attendance.
The instructor also needs to be well trained and a good motivator if you are someone that requires that level of attention. They will also need to be aware of any physical limitations you may have or of any special needs before the training starts. You can ask the staff what services they offer, this will give you the chance to find out how helpful, friendly and professional they are. The really good fitness club have specially trained staff that may focus on aspects of diet, nutrition or even professional physiotherapists.
The clubs opening times is also something worth checking because if you work unusual hours you need to know they will be open and whether the general programs on offer are what you are looking for. Some people join a fitness club to join classes; of course these are usually an extra charge so if at all possible try and have a free lesson before you commit to anything. It may seem like a minor point but if the club doesn’t have sufficient training equipment to go around, queues are likely to form and that is when people start to leave. It never hurts to check out the exercise machines they have, and that you will find them easy to operate plus they should all be clean and well maintained.
