Once you get your budget drawn out, it starts to get scary. The money is so tight that there is no room for a mistake, or worse yet, an emergency. We need more than a budget; we need ideas for saving money on our one income household. Specifically speaking, how do we cut back on expenses, not just plan for them? Interestingly, when we took a hard look at our expenses, we did see some things that made us wonder what we were thinking. Magazine subscriptions, dry cleaning bills, expensive hair cuts, and the like were going to have to go. Luxuries like fancy coffees and nights out at the movie will be replaced, at least for a time, with good, strong home-brewed coffee and movies at home. Shopping around for the best price on many products and services will save this one income household’s budget.
