As we age exercise becomes more and more important to maintain a healthy weight. No longer is a healthy diet enough to keep my weight down.
Following are three reasons to exercise that are especially important for baby boomers to improve your health and add years to your life.
The first benefit listed here is for maintaining a healthy weight. A good diet is important, but a healthy diet without exercise is not enough to keep the fat off. Exercise not only helps you maintain a healthy weight but it also improves your heart health and lowers your cholesterol.
The second benefit is to maintain a healthy weight. Carrying as little as ten extra pounds is detrimental to your overall health. It leaves you more susceptible to heart disease and cancer.
Finally, a third benefit of daily exercise is it improves the strength of your bones. It actually helps prevent osteoporosis. This is especially important for women as we age.
There are many more reasons to exercise, such as helping to fight arthritis and diabetes. If you are not exercising regularly, check with your doctor and then get started. The sooner the better.
