I was at the AVP Crocs beach vollyball on manhattan beach a few weeks back and saw these new kids quad skates called SKORPIES.
In between matches team Skorpion took the stage and introduced the crowd to Skorpion Skates and specifically their new kids’ skate called SKORPIES, cue some Michael Jackson music enter cute blondie on pink skates, do a small roller dance routine.
Having my own cute little girl who loves pink i went straight to the Skorpion stand to find out more. This girl must have been about only 7 but looked really comfortable and stable on stage and dancing. Down on the stand I spoke with some of the guys, one of which was the owner and designer all the way from down under in New Zealand. Their instructor Richard took me for a skate on the adult Quadline model to show me just how stable they actually are. I’ve never really skated much but in only 10 minutes with Richard I was all good. Thank you Richard!! The Quadlines are like a super trendy updated version of the old style roller skates- you wear your own shoes and strap yourself to the footplate with easy to use ratchet bindings, like snowboards if you’ve ever done that.
The SKORPIES footplate can adjust to to multiple sizes which is great for parents so they can grow with you rather than have to keep buying new skates, they even have their own version of the old style wing nut on the underside for the adjustment. Being the dream that I am I ended up buying a pair for my girl and a pair for myself both in Pink. My girl took to her SKORPIES like ducks to water, now we make time to go out skating together, it’s great to get out of the house and do something really fun together.
I say roll-on the holidays so that we can get out everyday.
