So I am sitting there catching Get Smart and beginning to genuinely think that the trailer made this dvd seem a great deal more entertaining. This idea departed though about ten minutes once we watch Max with Agent 99.

I’ve forever found Anne Hathaway to be one of the cutest Hollywood actors and she didn’t neglect me here either. Her slimly revealing wardrobe kept the eye constantly on the silver screen, which is how it should be.

Steve Carell has good comic timing, he may at times remind you of Leslie Nielsen in The Naked Gun and Spy Hard mode, but beyond that he finagles to make Max a really sympathetic and human persona, not just a cartoon.

Max and Agent 99 (Carell and Hathaway) never actually finish up ‘together’, but seem to finish more on a ‘best friend’ basis by the end of the flick.

The rest of the cast is broadly speaking well-chosen (however I didn’t get the reason of Bill Murray’s 1-minute appearence); there is a massive plot twist that grants one cast member to play against character, and even Dalip Singh (also known as The Great Khali in WWE) plays out swell, playing a big undestroyable henchman in the tradition of Jaws of The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker films.

I forever enjoy a dvd video that can make me laugh and keep the action coming strong. Max and Agent 99 have some intense fight scenes, choreographed by fight scene genius James Lew. For a finale of action they include a grand and manic chase sequence as well. By an action point of view I could say it easily surpasses that of last Bond flicks, though the comedy doesn’t make it quite as serious.

The plot of this movie is pretty vanilla, there are honest guys and negative guys and the good have to intercept the bad guys from killing innocent individuals one of which is the president. Even So this movie includes a not so typical lead psychoanalyst known as Maxwell Smart who works for a counter terrorism agency and desperately desires to become a field agent.

Yet after passing the field agent test Max is not granted to go out in the field of battle as his boss (Arkin) tells him that he is the best psychoanalyst they have and that he needs him to keep put. Notwithstanding Max is promoted to a field agent when the bad guys find out all of the names and locations of the live agents and start to kill them, with the aid of agent 99 (Hathaway) and agent 23 (The Rock/Dwayne Johnson) Smart is sent to take out the bad guys.

Get Smart has taken a realistic approach to a movie and sometimes feels as if you could be seeing a bond movie due to feeling that some of the widgets are right up Q’s ally. Nonetheless some of the scenes are not to realistic such as hanging on to a wire while flying in mid air but this does add some more jokes to the movie. Steve Carell is very appealing in this movie like we have all expect and shares some great onscreen chemistry with co star Hathaway.

I really give this picture a thumbs up. Great action, superb acting, and a great body (Hathaway), Get Smart is a success. It takes a unusual twist to comedies that make up more serious dvd movies and did it well.
